The New York Diesel is a Chem/Diesel/OG family elite clone dating back to the 1990’s. Somewhere in the early 2k’s, when the Chem and OG names no longer had the same commercial appeal as they once did, produce began to get renamed. This clone, along with a few similar varieties, came to be known as ‘Headband’.
Although her breeding is not concretely documented, when grown side by side with Chem 91, the comparison is obvious. She is a bit more upright and taller than 91, but many other factors are very similar. Her finished appearance closely resembles the NL clone that ruled around 1998, but with a potency only approached by the original Chem and early 90’s Super Skunk clone. Most likely, she is a combination of NL and Super Skunk, and potentially a Chem 91 cross. This clone is definetely not the offspring of Sour Diesel.
Where she differs completely from other clones in this family is in her finishing time. At 8 weeks flower, this clone is done… completely. You can watch her yellow and swell a tiny bit after that, but not noteably. Her other outstanding factors include potency, although all the clones in this family stand a top this category.
This clone has an a very high variation in her offspring (heterozygous). This is reflective of the fact that she is not inbred, and is on the opposite end of this spectrum as Chem 91. Essentially, this can be very good for pheno hunters, but would not be desireable for a field cropper seeking uniformity.
We have run this clone in a multitude of stressful conditions including senescence and have yet to see this plant produce a male flower without STS induction. She is extremely stable, another quality not common in her genetic sphere.
